Odds Probability Converter

Paste odds in any format — decimal, fractional or American — and read them like a scholar: implied probability, all three formats side by side, and (with your own estimate) the expected value and a clear value verdict.

Enter the odds

Type it however you have it — auto-detect handles decimal, fractional and American.
Defaults to 100 if left blank, so you can read the return as a simple ratio.
Add your own honest estimate to unlock the edge, expected value and value verdict.

The reading

Enter any odds and press Convert & assess. You'll see the implied probability, all three formats, potential returns and — if you add your own estimate — a full value assessment.

Reading odds like a scholar

Odds are just probability wearing a disguise. Once you can translate any price into the chance it implies, the fog lifts — you stop seeing "6/4" and start seeing "the market thinks this happens about 40% of the time."

Every set of odds carries an implied probability: decimal odds of 2.50 imply a 40% chance (1 ÷ 2.50). This converter shows that instantly, and lines up all three formats so you can move fluently between them.

From probability to value

Knowing the implied probability is only half the wisdom. The real question is whether the price offers value — that is, whether the true chance is better than the odds suggest. Add your own honest estimate of the win chance and the converter calculates:

Two honest cautions. Bookmakers build a margin into their prices, so summed implied probabilities exceed 100% — the true chance is usually a little lower than the raw figure. And EV is only ever as reliable as your own estimate. Treat this as a lens for thinking, not a crystal ball.

Odds converter FAQ

What is "implied probability"?

It's the chance an outcome must have for the odds to be fair. For decimal odds, it's simply 1 divided by the odds — so 2.00 implies 50%, and 4.00 implies 25%.

How do I read American odds?

A positive number (e.g. +150) is the profit on a 100 stake; a negative number (e.g. -200) is the stake needed to profit 100. The converter translates both into decimal, fractional and probability for you.

What counts as a "value" bet?

A bet has positive value when your estimated true probability is higher than the odds' implied probability — meaning the expected value is above zero. Remember: it's only value if your estimate is genuinely well-judged.

Why is the real chance lower than the implied figure?

Because bookmakers add a margin (the "overround"). Across all outcomes the implied probabilities add up to more than 100%, so any single implied figure slightly overstates the fair chance.

Does this tool place bets?

No. Playwise365 is purely educational — the converter is a calculator to sharpen your understanding. It never places or facilitates any wager.
